Schmelzer Model 5 Bass Trombone with Dual Open Flow Rotors

$4,895.00

Item Details

This Model 5 custom double valve bass trombone is made by Manfred Schmelzer in M-Gladbach, Germany.  Manfred is retiring soon, so this is likely the last one we'll see like this.

This is a beautiful looking and playing inline bass trombone with large bore open flow style rotors and a very light gold brass bell.  It's got the snappy commercial sound we remember from classic Holton, Conn, and Minick trombones, but with modern rotors for an easier blow.

Schmelzer trombones are all unique.  This hand slide went to Bruce Belo for a full tune-up.  Now its good.  In-house I adjusted the trigger paddles to fit human hands; it all feels comfortable now.  Schmelzers need this sort of attention.  We added some padding to the case for a better fit.
