Nutcracker music by Peter I. Tchaikovsky was composed for ballet. There are more than twenty-five musical numbers in the original work. The composer selected a bunch of musical numbers to be performed as an orchestral concert version titled The Nutcracker Suite.

The story depicted by the Nutcracker the Nutcracker ballet is about a little girl who received many gifts at Christmas time. She dreams that her toys come to life and do fantastic things. Her favorite gift is a nutcracker which becomes a soldier prince and leads the others into battle against an army of mice. After the battle the girl is entertained at a festival where there is much dancing.
