This is a small bore trombone from Michael Rath Trombones. This model R100 is a less expensive version of their custom model R10, the R100 being made in China instead of the UK. The R100 features a .500" all nickel hand slide, 7.5" brass bell, distinctive bracing, balance weigh, and connector, removable leadpipe. and includes case and mouthpiece. Looking at the R10 and R100, they are indistinguishable at a glance. Nearly all the proprietary features of the UK models are seen on the CN *00 models. It should be great - there's a lot of attention to detail here.
Out of the box I was less than overwhelmed, but a quick switch of leadpipes and some testing sorted it out. This particular R100 plays so much better with a new leadpipe from a Rath R10 trombone. That's included and this model is nearly everything the UK model is. Certainly it's as satisfying to play. And that's good. Michael Rath makes very nice trombones.
