Landscapes for Piano by the distinguished American composer Michael Mauldin and six studies in syncopation for advanced beginners. Rhythmic complexity, though difficult for most advanced beginners, is one of the elements in music for which beginners most often hear and want to be able to play.
These six six pieces although filled with anticipation - syncopation's and cross rhythms (which produce the desired effect at full tempo) are written so as to be easily by students familiar with half notes, quarter notes and eighth notes. No dotted rhythms appear (just except half notes). Hand position changes are smoothly reached, or allowed ample time to change. These pieces are also designed to be affective without the use of a damper pedal.
