Adams Sonic Tenor Trombone

$3,475.00

Item Details

The Sonic tenor trombone is built by Adams Music in the Netherlands.  This is a professional trombone that looks good and sounds great.  The hand slide is all nickel with brass outer tubes for strength and stability.  The hand slide is completely silent with perfectly smooth action.

The rotary valve is a modern oversize design by Meinlschmidt in Germany called the Open-Flow.  Compare the rotor to Shires, Greenhoe and Rotax designs.  The rotor has a miniball linkage with an adjustable rosewood paddle.  The sleek F-loop is designed to be fairly compact and have few curves or obstructions.  The bell section is traditionally braced, also for strength.  The Sonic has a two-piece bell, crafted with a 0.60 mm gauge yellow brass, delivering an orchestral sound with stability and projection. This is a different bell from Adams' TB1 1-piece bell.  This one is likely easier to make, but it does the job.

So says the ad copy, the tuning slide is handmade from sheet brass - this is not common anywhere, if they're actually doing this.  The leadpipe is hand hammered as well.  Can't tell by looking.  If so, that's magic right there.

No additional options are available on the Sonic trombone - it just arrives one way, which keeps production costs down.  If you need options, the Adams model TB1 can be customized to your specifications.

The Sonic comes with a sturdy case which is neither light nor compact exactly, but it backpacks and has good storage.  It travels well, offering good protection from baggage handlers.

Compares to:  Bach 42BOF, Conn 88HYO, Yamaha 882OR, Getzen 1047F

You can take this Adams anywhere you'd take a Bach 42.  But the Adams is next level.
