This is a trombone with a carbon fiber bell and slide, owned by virtuoso trombonist Miles Anderson. Miles is considering retirement from playing trombone and wanted to make sure this one gets some attention by a good player from the next generation.
The ChangeMaker trombone is a new design and a descendant of the Swiss daCarbo carbon fiber instruments. I believe this instrument's Austrian carbon bell and slide tubes are assembled in Taiwan (or China?) to metal components fabricated there. Changemaker is just getting started so you haven't even seen a production model yet (est. $3395). This instrument is a way to bring carbon instrument technology to a lower price point. Changemaker is so new, they haven't much web presence yet. Soon. Different name, good idea.
This is one of the ChangeMaker prototypes, with an improved hand slide. This hand slide is incredibly light and fast. The bell section is medium weight, given its balance weight and brass sleeve between bell and tuning slide. That weight makes it center and project and it plays. The Changemaker is fast and full, and besides the dent-resistant slide tubes, the hardness of the carbon bell improves the acoustics. You'll project better and will feel more confident in the high range. Condition is excellent, with only a few marks from use. It's been professionally cleaned by The Brass Mavens.
