C.G. Conn 62H Eastlake Bass Trombone Used

$4,950.00

Item Details

This is a Conn 62H bass trombone made in 2002 in Eastlake, Ohio, USA.  Its first and only owner is trombonist Jeff Reynolds, who played this instrument in the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra through 2006, and in other ensembles post-retirement.

Specs:

  • .562"/.580" dual bore hand slide, bronze outside tubes, nickel crook, B leadpipe
  • Stacked .580" rotors in F and D, crossover linkages
  • Rose brass tuning bow and unlacquered 9.5" bell

Condition:

Good mechanical condition, very good hand slide action, clean and smooth, no dents or damage, well maintained.  Bell is unlacquered and left in its natural patina.  Remainder of horn is lacquered with some wear at neckpipe, F rotor cap and hand braces.  We will polish the bell upon your askance.

One threaded B leadpipe is included with the dual bore hand slide.  Some wear is evident at the braces and on the inside curve of the slide crook - that's the location a Ralph Sauer slide stiffening brace was positioned.

The second rotor paddle is shorter than we expect and is not located in the normal place.  Jeff learned to play it as-is by routing his finger above the upper hand slide brace rather than below as we usually do.  I remember Doug Yeo writing about a similar grip he used for his own instrument.  It doesn't work for me.  If you'd like the linkage rod extended to place the paddle in the normal place, we can arrange it.  Please ask.

Includes Conn hard case, sold without mouthpiece.  We recommend a Minick replica mouthpiece like Ferguson L or JR (yes this JR).
