Gloria 'N Cielo for Unison Chorus & Trumpet Arr. Ruth Still, pub. Wimbledon
Gloria 'N Cielo is a monophonic Landa of the 13th century. Lande were hymns of praise and devotion in the Italian language. They played an important part in the religious life of the Italian people and were of en sun by processions of penitents. Their origin and early development were closely connected wit St. Francis of Assisi.
To maintain the Medieval character of the work, no keyboard accompaniment should be used. If used as a processional, repeal all but the last five measures of the work as many times as necessary. When the procession has reached its final destination, complete the work including the last five measures.
Gloria 'N Cielo may be performed any time during the year. However, it is particularly suitable for the Christmas and Easter seasons.
