This is a used premier F tuba made by Japan by Yamaha.
Status says "sold out" but that's only until we sort the price. It's here; if you'd like to make an offer, please reach out.
This Custom Series YFB-821 tuba was designed to satisfy Roger Bobo, Tuba Emeritus of the soloist world. This Boboha has a body about the size of the Yamaha model 621, but has a larger 16.5" bell and easier access to slides for pulling. The fifth rotor is located in the leadpipe, and includes two slides of differing lengths to tune as you desire. Also the valves of the 821 are set at a different more ergonomic angle, and the finger buttons are larger. I believe the bore size is 17.5-18.5mm, 0.689-0.728", not confirmed.
Size comparison photos show Yamaha YFB-821 and Miraphone 1281G.
The Boboha is a nice playing tuba as expected. You can whisper into it and the response is super fast. The volume is soft and the attack is smooth and covered, it' doesn't flare much, just stays dark. But it's a small horn, with less overall volume than a 4/4 F, less punch than the German style horns have, but it's still captivating. The larger finger buttons are a nice touch. The previous owner added a foam spacer to the thumb paddle - that helps. This would be a nice tuba for a standup gig - it doesn't weigh much.
