Solo for C or B-flat trumpet with piano accompaniment.
Composed by Jacques-Francois Ibert (1890-1962). Ibert studied music at the Paris Conservatoire, was awarded the Grand Prix de Rome, and was in residence at the Villa Medici for three years. With his antidogmatic personality, Ibert was open to various forms of modernity. As a figurehead in French music - director of the Academie de France in Rome - and administrator of the Paris Opera - Ibert was elected to the prestigious Institut de France in 1956.
