Eb alto trombone built by Heribert Glassl from Nauheim, Germany.
Heribert Glassl (1930-2009) was one of the great German instrument makers of the last century, learning instrument-making as his first trade after World War 2. Back in the day a Glassl Alt Posaune was considered absolutely top of the guild. I am fortunate to have known Herr Glassl personally, and upon his retirement he sold me several instruments from his personal collection.
This instrument is built of all nickel with bronze accents and solid Sterling silver bell and tuning slide. Finished in clear lacquer, with hard case. Note the remarkable decorative snake option, about which Glassl said, "These are not Voigt snakes."
Traditional design without venturi pipe - the receiver tube itself is tapered. Traditional bracing uses slightly different left hand grip: the player's left thumb presses against the neckpipe instead of the bell brace.
