Deux Danses for Trombone and Piano by Jean-Michel Defaye, pub. Leduc Hal Leonard

$28.60

Item Details

Solo for trombone and piano.  Duration 8 minutes.  Published by Alphonse Leduc (AL21403).

This work was "...composed in 1950. "Danse Sacree" is a slow, rubato melody that turns into a forward moving gesture becoming a theme and variations of sort until the first powerful cadenza. The first movement ends with the beautiful lyrical melody as it opened. "Danse Profane" is based on a samba beat for a flashy ending."

Defaye (born outside Paris in 1932), graduate of the Paris Conservatoire, winner of the Premier Second Grand Prix de Rome.  His work is mainly oriented towards instrumental music, particularly for brass.

The first video example is of interest because it is the first recording of the piece.  It is performed as a solo.  The second video example includes the piano accompaniment.
