This is a removable leadpipe for large bore tenor trombones made by Kanstul in Anaheim, California. Supply is limited.
In the 2000's when Zig Kanstul developed his trombone line, he also measured a number of interesting leadpipes and made replicas of them: Minick, Conn, Bach, Williams, Holton. This way there were several choices for each of his trombones, and because the threaded ring uses the same threads as Shires trombones, other players purchased these to retrofit Shires and other trombones.
This model 8 pipe was made to replicate the leadpipe of a Conn 8H-SP - a version of the Conn 8H trombone featuring a smaller 8" bell. Apparently its leadpipe was different as well. A local player in SoCal had one so Zig Kanstul measured it, fixed the errors and machined a mandrel to match.
This leadpipe is 8" long, fits large shank standard Morse taper, and its venturi is approximately .468" at 2.5" from the threaded end. It's about .010" smaller than a 42 venturi. Thread size is "coarse threads" and fits Kanstul and Shires.
